About St Augustine's Abbey

St Augustine's Abbey was founded in 597 AD by Augustine, the first Archbishop of Canterbury. Once one of England's most important monasteries, today it is a peaceful set of ruins with an excellent visitor centre. A quiet, contemplative spot just outside the city walls.
